Applications

Steel wire ropes monitoring

Types of rope problems

Broken wires

The expected life of steel wire ropes degrades very fast towards the end-of-life. Timed inspections are not representative of the current rope state. The maximum amount of broken wires can be easily exceeded in between scheduled inspections.

Critical events

Large damages caused by e.g. thermal shocks, rope-to-rope contact, stone falls, are hard to detect given their local nature but require immediate rope replacement.

Twist and bird-caging

Birdcaging and rotational damages in general are often caused by misuse of the rope or damages in drums and sheaves. Beside operational and safety hazards this type of damage leads to expensive unplanned downtime.

Corrosion

Rust and corrosion can be extremely detrimental to the life and performance of metal wire ropes. Unfortunately many ropes operate in extremely harsh environments and require continuous monitoring of the degradation state.

Safety and productivity

The integrity of the wire ropes is essential to the safety and efficiency of engineering operations.

Traditional practices imply periodic and time-bound inspections, that rely on deep expertise and cause operational interruptions for maintenance.

Raidyn's solutions leverage deep expertise in AI algorithms, data preparation, computer vision and computational physics all combined to identify integrity risks early on, potentially avoiding costly disruptions or even tragic incidents.

You do not need to worry about the technology - we developed a solution that is easy to use and designed for rope experts and practicioners

From scheduled unproductive time to continuous monitoring

Currently installations that rely on steel wire ropes have mostly two options to ensure safety and continuity of operations.

Perform daily inspections

Expensive and unreliable

Discard a rope that did not reach the full expected life to prevent issues but at least can be scheduled.

Expensive and environmentally heavy

With our continuous monitoring and inspection solution you can have the best of both worlds.

Applications across the industry

Applications across the industry

Cableways

Steel wire ropes ensure safety of all passengers. Their condition is a key factor in determining the level of safety of the passengers.

Mining

Continuously at work, steel wire ropes are the single most critical component for mine operations. Their condition is linked to safety and productivity.

Offshore drilling

Harsh environment and heavy duty as in e.g. AHC. Ropes are tested to their maximum operational limits in complex offshore applications.

Construction

Every component in the construction industry is moved and positioned with the aid of steel wire ropes. Their proper working condition means safety and timely results.
