Ropeways
MND and AIM test the limit of MRT and Visual Inspection at the speed of 10 m/s.

Testing new designs in a safe, full scale environment.
AIM — the Alliance for Intelligent Rope Monitoring — has deployed a combined inspection system integrating AMC Instruments’ magnetic rope testing capabilities with Raidyn’s AURA platform for visual and geometrical rope inspection. The installation was made possible through the collaboration between French OEM MND Ropeways and rope manufacturer Teufelberger-Redaelli, which is coordinating AIM activities.
The system was installed at MND’s full-scale test facility, where new reopeways designs and technology concepts combining MND Ropeways and Teufelberger-Redaelli expertise can be evaluated under realistic operating conditions. In this environment, large-diameter ropes run at speeds of up to 10 m/s, creating a highly demanding test setup that pushed the AIM system to its limits — and proved its performance.
“We just ran it at 10 m/s — I could not believe it when I saw the results.”

By combining the proven reliability of magnetic rope testing (MRT) with AI-powered visual inspection and geometrical analysis from Raidyn, the AIM tool delivers a complete view of the rope condition through a single, easy-to-use interface: AURA. The platform provides real-time, remote access to inspection results, enabling fast and informed decisions during operational testing. For this installation, the team deployed connectivity via Starlink. This led to a very performant setup for the remote access to the monitoring and inspection results.
The integrated system now allows rope performance to be monitored, compared, and analyzed day after day, across different speeds and load conditions. This creates a safer and more controlled environment for validating new designs and testing performance over time.
And it does so with remarkable simplicity: no special lighting, no encoder, no high power consumption — it just works.
“Thanks to the AIM tool, we feel that our testing operations have improved in terms of control and safety.”
